In 1962, Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human to safely travel to space and back. Following his return, Soviet officials aim to utilise his historic achievement for political gain at the expense of his freedom. Cosmonaut analyses this dramatic dichotomy of passion and bureaucracy, and the psychological impact felt as Yuri fulfils his passion, yet is restrained by the society he exists within.

Cosmonaut has won the 'Sheridan Best Short Film Award' and 'Best Screenplay Award' on its first screening as of April 28th, 2025. Additionally, I was nominated for the 'CCE Student Merit Award' for my editing work on the project. I believe it is the best reflection of my abilities.

A music video for Ambient/IDM artist 'Casino Versus Japan', who has a respective 200k monthly listeners on Spotify. The project was for his song 'Local Forecast', a track off his 1999 album Go Hawaii. In late 2023 I reached out to the artist and he supported the idea for the project, providing licensing for the video as well as the original recording and support throughout. Festival submissions are planned for 2025

A documentary that aims to highlight and reclaim the things in peoples childhoods they valued most, one that highlights the simplicity of early life imagination in a unique creative project. The film features twenty interviews of different people spanning all ages and backgrounds, and is partnered with intricate stop-motion animation and visuals that reflect what those items meant when we were kids.

My name is Aidan Vachon, I’m a 21-year-old film student currently in my third year pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Film and TV at Sheridan College. Filmmaking to me is, and always will be a passion, one that is influencecd by my personal life and my academic pursuits.
My areas of interest within the medium are strongly found within editing and post-production in general, as well as directing. Film is a passion for me, and the medium is something I endlessly enjoying being a part of at any capacity. While I remain open to various genres, my creative inclination often leads me towards experimental filmmaking, where I can explore and push the boundaries of visual storytelling as well as my own capabilities, often learning at least one new technique with each project.
Beyond filmmaking, I also embark in other creatives, such as graphic design and digital media creation. These pursuits allow me to blend my technical skills with my love for visual arts, and often opens new transferable skills between video creation and 2D + 3D digital art.
When I'm not immersed in a creative project, I enjoy watching and collecting films - a hobby that continually inspires my own work and appreciation for the medium. Music is another significant part of my life, as I collect records and avidly listen to everything under the sun (Nine Inch Nails, Meshuggah, Squarepusher, and Boards of Canada being personal favourites). Atop this I try to expand on my personable skills by collaborating with friends and like minded people on projects and even socially, which I believe develops my work ethic and skills allows for me to work in almost any environment and be efficient, productive, and adaptable.
